1. How do I get my learner licence in Queensland?
Per QLD Transport guidelines, you must be 16 and pass the PrepL course. Rightway Driving provides the expert road-coaching needed to turn that theory into safe practical skills.
2. How many logbook hours do I need in QLD?
Learners under 25 need 100 hours. Rightway Driving instructors are authorized to provide 3-for-1 bonus hours, meaning your first 10 hours with us equals 30 logbook hours.
3. What is the Hazard Perception Test (HPT)?
It is an online test required after 6 months on your Ls. Rightway Driving integrates hazard perception into every lesson to ensure you meet safety standards.
4. Can I drive manual if I pass in an automatic?
In QLD, an automatic test restricts you to automatics. Rightway Driving offers specialized manual conversion lessons to help you remove this restriction.
5. What happens if I fail the QLD driving test?
There is a mandatory waiting period. Rightway Driving conducts pre-test assessments to ensure you are 100% ready before your official TMR appointment.
6. Does Rightway provide a car for the test?
Yes. Our Test Day Packages include a warm-up lesson and use of our modern dual-controlled vehicles at Southport, Burleigh Waters or any official TMR Test Centre.
7. How long do I stay on P1 (Red P) plates?
Usually one year. Rightway Driving focuses on advanced defensive techniques to ensure you remain a safe driver throughout your provisional period.
8. Are mobile phones allowed for QLD learners?
No. Rightway Driving reinforces total focus and zero-distraction habits in every session.
9. Is PrepL mandatory?
Yes, this is part of the Learner Process in Queensland. Rightway Driving supports this curriculum by providing the practical "real world" experience once you hit the road.
10. Can I drive in QLD with an interstate licence?
Yes, but you must convert within 3 months of residency. Rightway Driving facilitates smooth transitions for interstate movers who need to complete their learner program. If you have an existing Australian Licence just contact QLD TRM.
11. What are high-powered vehicle restrictions?
P-platers have engine restrictions per TMR safety laws. Rightway Driving instructors listed on our platform use a fleet of compliant, high-safety-rated vehicles for all training.
12. How do I book a test at Southport or any QLD Transport Driving Test Centre?
Bookings are via completed direct TMR. Rightway Driving can assist you complete the booking over the phone so that your availability matches both TMR available times and your Instructor's availablity. Call us to book in your test and take the stress out of your test day.
13. What are the rules for T-intersections?
You must give way to all traffic on the continuing road. Rightway Driving's 65 years of local experience ensures you know exactly how to handle every situation on the Gold Coast roads.
14. Does RACQ recommend specific schools?
RACQ advocates for safe driving standards; Rightway Driving has upheld and supported these high-authority standards since we started as a driving school on the Gold Coast. The RACQ no longer has an approved driving school process.
